Methodology
Based on the detailed specifications for determining firm access capacity to distribution networks, published by Resolution of the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) on 8 June 2025, at UFD we assess firm access capacity to our distribution networks according to the following criteria:
Access capacity under conditions of full availability
Access capacity under conditions of unavailability
Access capacity by maximum power to be demanded at a point
The published firm access capacity refers to firm access capacity for non–disruptive demand for wave quality purposes.
Capacity study results
The firm access capacity published pursuant to Article 33.9 of Law 24/2013, Article 5.4 of Royal Decree 1183/2020 and Article 16 of Circular 1/2024 should be considered informative only and does not replace the need to carry out a specific study for each specific request for access and connection to our distribution network.
The determination of firm access capacity for a specific demand facility to our distribution network will be assessed in the procedure for obtaining access and connection permits, following the corresponding application made in accordance with current legislation.
The firm access capacity available at each substation may be affected by the influence of adjacent networks and/or the corresponding acceptability reports.

How is network access capacity determined?
The access capacity available for each node has been determined as the maximum additional active power that can be demanded at that node, taking into account the occupied capacity, the study scenario and the operating forecasts for the facilities, without considering possible network reinforcements, in accordance with the criteria set out in CNMC Circular 1/2024 and the ‘Detailed Specifications’ for determining access capacity.
I´m looking for a substation on the map and i can´t find it.
The substations published on the capacity map are those that have at least one busbar owned by UFD with the possibility of access, without indicating the feasibility of connection to it. Substations owned by third parties or other network operators are not shown.
You have published a substation with available capacity. Does this mean that there is access capacity at that substation and therefore I will be granted that capacity when I submit my application?
No, the capacity publication is merely indicative. Values may vary due to changes in the network, new access requests or modifications to those currently being processed. To determine the network capacity for each request, a specific study must be carried out that takes into account the situation at the time of the request.
