Before starting the works…

  • You should inform yourself about the existing cables in the area. You can do this on the website www.inkolan.com
  • Make sure that the people who handle excavation or demolition machinery have the necessary information about existing subway electrical cables in the work area.
  • Mark the cable route.
  • Locate cables through hand test pits. Do not demolish or excavate until you have located them.
  • If in doubt, contact UFD.

During the works, notify UFD if…

  • You need to uncover a cable, in order to take specific protection measures.
  • You need to carry out piling or drilling, to avoid damage to the installations.
  • The opening of trenches in works that are carried out by machine must be directed by authorized personnel in Electrical Risk according to RD 614/2001, who will indicate to the machine operator the opening points.

In case of electrical accident…

  • Evacuate all personnel near the damaged cable.
  • Do not allow anyone near the machinery that has performed the drilling.
  • Wait for instructions from UFD.
  • Call 112.

Remember!

Yellowish bands and plastic plates indicate the proximity of a live power cable.

Always remember that…

  • There are plastic plates or tape signs indicating the proximity of subway cables. Only manual means may be used within 50 cm of the cable.
  • You must have adequate information about the existence of communications cables or other services besides electricity, in case they could be affected.
  • You must stop if you discover a concrete prism when excavating, as this protects an electrical installation.

Be especially careful with…

  • The stockpiling of materials, fences and scaffolding or fires on the cable route.
  • Do not weaken the ground around the cable during excavations.
  • Spillage of dangerous liquids (gasoline, fuel oils, etc.) on the cable or on the earth to be used for capping.
  • Earthworks must not modify the depth of the cable duct.

Recommendations:

  • If you run into a cable, the operator must not get off the machine. If the machinery is running, he must separate himself from the cable or voltage source he is touching.
from the cable or voltage source it is touching. Once separated, the machinery must be unloaded by placing a metal object in contact with the ground once all persons present in the area have moved away.
  • In case of fire, do not attempt to extinguish the fire. If there is any damage to the cable or to the
If there is any damage to the cable or sheathing, call UFD (900 111 999).
