Law 24/2013, of 26 December, on the power sector, defines a series of duties for distribution companies that include those of identifying and notifying the authorities and customers of situations of fraud involving the grid and measurement devices. Article 87 of Royal Decree 1955/2000 empowers distribution companies to interrupt supply when anomalous situations are detected in installations or measurement devices.
