Prevent careless accidents! Follow the basic safety guidelines on electricity infrastructures

Electricity distribution

Electricity is an essential part of our lives, but we must remember that certain precautions must be taken to avoid risky situations. The UFD team would like to offer you some tips on how to ensure that electricity infrastructures don’t cause you any problems.

We sometimes forget such simple safety guidelines as: never climb electricity pylons under any circumstances; or that power cables are not clotheslines and no shoes or other objects should be hung on them.

Whenever doing something beneath overhead power lines (such as fishing or carrying large objects), you should also be careful to avoid any contact or discharge.

When driving or operating large vehicles (such as lorries), it is also important to check the area in advance to ensure there is enough headroom so that collisions with overhead power lines can be avoided if any are found in the area.
